What I Use Daily
Inspired by Folkmoss Logs' blogpost. Thanks for this! :-)
This list is also a good place for finding tools that work well. There's quite a bit of overlap with that list and what I use daily.
My Computer
Model: Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 2
I bought this used from Ebay recently. The price was very reasonable and this laptop has been treating me well recently. No complaints :-)
Specs: RAM: 16 GB. CPU: Intel i7-9850H. GPUs: NVIDIA Quadro T1000 Mobile, Intel UHD Graphics 630
Operating System: Kubuntu (a Linux distro)
Software
IDE / HTML Editor: VSCodium - An open source binary of VSCode
Browser: Firefox - Just vanilla Firefox with a few extensions.
Word Processing: OnlyOffice
Without AI, it works well. It's not as good as Google Docs but I'm trying to use Google less. It's also so much better than LibreOffice, which is the other main word processor for Linux.
Image Editing: Pinta or (eugh) Canva
I like using Canva but I hate how much of it is paywalled. Generally Pinta works fine, though.
Other Tech & Tools
Phone: Rooted TCL Flip 2
It's a pretty solid flip phone! If you're looking to try flip phones, consider this one. avoid Nokia! They're not made by Nokia anymore.
Journaling: Cheap pocket notebooks and a Pilot G-2 07 gel pen
Watch: Clear Casio F91W
I try to be very practical and this model is known for being very practical and sturdy. It's trusted by President Obama and Osama Bin Laden. If that doesn't scream reliable, I don't know what does. And it's clear! Cute!
Bag: A canvas messenger bag from LUNLOPIK on Amazon
I would link to the bag but it's not being sold anymore. Its held up over a year later but two of the buttons are male-only.
